2 Chronicles 20:17 (New International Version)

17. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.

Discouragement is a feeling of despair, sadness or lack of confidence. A discouraged person is usually disheartened. When we try to handle our own worries, cares, and fears and they collapse around us, we realize we are not in control. Then if it is not dealt with, a person can become depressed. During this Christmas Season, many people will deal with this issue. Not having enough money to buy presents, or keeping up with other traditions will cause tremendous stress. Just the times we live in will cause us to be anxious. In this scripture above this was a "big" thing, buying or getting presents is not a "big" thing. But it can have the same effects! Whatever battle you are facing , I just pray for you to have peace in your heart, after you have done all that is required of you, then just take your position and stand firm. You can absolutely be assured the Lord is with you and the battle is His!

2Timothy 3:14-17

14-17. But don't let it faze you. Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers—why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother's milk! There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.

If we want to know how to live a pleasing life in Christ, we do not have to look far in the scriptures for instruction. The problem with some folks is that when they read it, they don't really believe. We are told here that "Every part of the Scripture is God breathed", "every" part. So what is our problem? I believe as we grow and learn more about Him, we develope confidence in the Word. Its just like the friends we have, it is only when we get to know them that a friendship is formed. Then we began to trust them! It is the same way with Jesus, it is only when we get to know Him that we have a relationship with Him. I pray for you today as you read this, that whatever needs you may have that you will just look to Jesus, take Him at His Word and really believe. Have a wonderful beginning of the week.
