The Heart is Dark and Deceitful!

Jeremiah 17:9.10 (The Message)

9-10. "The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful,
a puzzle that no one can figure out.
But I, God, search the heart
and examine the mind.
I get to the heart of the human.
I get to the root of things.
I treat them as they really are,
not as they pretend to be."

"Not as they pretend to be", Wow! The Message Bible has a way of turning on the light so to speak! This is our hearts God is talking about! Because our hearts are deceitfully wicked and dark we will deal with pride and idolatry all our life. Yes, we are born this way and even after we experience salvation and deliverance we will still be faced with pride and idolatry. Pride focused on our self can be like the arrogance of Nebuchadnezzar, or pride can be focused exactly the other way of thinking about how worthless we are. Either way, it is nothing but pride that the enemy of our souls would love to keep us in bondage to. Idolatry is anything or anyone we set up before God! Websters definition is Worship of idols. or Blind or excessive devotion to something. How many times have we done this? Probably more than we imagine. We must recognize what is going on! Ask the Lord to reveal to us what the problem is, He will! It is the first big step, but when you make it you are on your way! It is an ongoing battle we face everyday! But God made a covenant with us, and He will perform what He started in us. I love how this scripture says "He will get to the root of things and treat them as they really are." Isn't that amazing! Who else would we want to examine our heart except God! We can't fool or pretend with the One Who created us! Thanks for listening to me ramble today, (I have a bee in my bonnet) we need to make use of the time we have left, and there is really no time to waste. A closer walk with God should be tops on our priority list! Bless you, sweet friends!
