Everything is Alright!

2Kings 4:24-28 (NIV)

24 She saddled the donkey and said to her servant, "Lead on; don't slow down for me unless I tell you." 25 So she set out and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel.
When he saw her in the distance, the man of God said to his servant Gehazi, "Look! There's the Shunammite! 26 Run to meet her and ask her, 'Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?' "
"Everything is all right," she said.

27 When she reached the man of God at the mountain, she took hold of his feet. Gehazi came over to push her away, but the man of God said, "Leave her alone! She is in bitter distress, but the LORD has hidden it from me and has not told me why."

28 "Did I ask you for a son, my lord?" she said. "Didn't I tell you, 'Don't raise my hopes'?"

"Everything is all right", really? Her one and only son was dead and "everything is all right", hummm. Well, needless to say I was on a mission to find out what in the world was wrong or right with this woman. If you will read the whole story, you will find because of her servants heart she had shown kindness to Elisha with a room to stay when he would travel that way. His way of thanking her was to tell her she would have a son the next year which was exactly what happened. Several years later the child became ill and died and in the scriptures above is when she is off to see this man of God. Elisha recognizes her and asks if everyone is ok and her strange answer is "everything is all right". How could things be all right, her child was dead! In every translation I found, the answer was the same. Maybe she had heard of the widow's son from Sarepta was brought back to life and that the spirit of Elijah rested on Elisha; and maybe had confidence of God's goodness that she was very ready to believe that He who so soon took away what He had given would restore what he had now taken away. By this faith women received their dead raised to life, Heb. 11:35. In this faith she made no preparation for the burial of her dead child, but for his resurrection; because she laid him on the prophet's bed (v. 21), expecting and believing. I was so blessed and excited to learn of this mothers faith. How we need to get hold of this truth, you know these people in the Bible were as real flesh and blood, just like us. If God did this for her, and He does not change, then why can't we believe He will do the same for us! You say "raise someone from the dead", well why not? There is nothing impossible with God! I pray this story has inspired you as it does me! I am so thankful for a God that loves and cares for us. When you read the last of this story you will find how the child is brought back to life, such a tender way of showing us how much God loves us. I hope you have a wonderful Lords Day! Please don't limit God, He is all powerful and able to meet every need you have! Be Blessed, sweet friends!
