Times are Changing!

I wonder how many folks received something electronic for Christmas? I am happy to report I am the proud owner of a Nook e-reader from Barnes and Noble! I have to say! I just love it and the convenience of everything attached to it. The first book I put on it was of course, the Bible. Then I put a daily devotional, then Francine Rivers new book, and I was on my way. There are many books that are free and reduced price that I feel like it will be worth it to have. But, there is something about holding a book, having a library and even the smell of books that tugs my heart. Will we ever get to the point when a "real" book will be hard to find? Maybe for some folks this will be true. Things are certainly changing aren't they? I supposed they call it progress and it has to be that way or we get stuck. I am not altogether sure it is not ok to be "stuck". So change is good and then some things should never change. Like our conviction that we follow Christ, that we have a made up mind we will not turn back. As this New Year gets under way, I am thinking about all the changes that will be made, some of our doing, some of others, but nevertheless there will be change. Am I rooted and grounded enough that I will stand firm, that no matter what happens I will not lose my trust in God? I believe it is a good thing to check ourselves every once in awhile. What is my motive for the things I do? Is this pleasing to God? Do I have unforgiveness in my heart? Am I bitter or deeply hurt over the things in my past. The list could go on forever, but my point here is no matter what, changes are all around us. There will be good ones and there will be those that are of great loss to us. I certainly don't like new years resolutions, but I do like commitments and with God's help I truly want to be more committed to living in His will for my life. My desire for my family and friends is to know Jesus and grow in the knowledge of His Word, just like the scriptures tell us. We can make this world a better place for others if we try. Just think of all the people you come in contact with and how much we can pray for them and show them the Love of Christ. Let's strive to be more like Him, so others can have hope. It is a terrible thing to not have hope.
