Another Birthday!

"Getting older is better than the alternative" is just one of the many light hearted remarks I have heard this week. This one in particular made me do some thinking. Is another birthday better than not having one, which only means we have died? I must tell you up front, that for many years I had a terrible fear of dying, then as I got older in the Lord, I began to realize that death is not to be feared. As I am now getting older in years, I can honestly say
I am not afraid! As a matter of fact, I am looking forward to heaven more and more each day. So this week as I celebrated my birthday, I didn't fret about being one year older! I like my senior coffee at McDonald's! I just have to share with you what the Message translation tells us about getting old:
(Ecclesiastes 12:3)  In old age, your body no longer serves you so well. Muscles slacken, grip weakens, joints stiffen. The shades are pulled down on the world. You can't come and go at will. Things grind to a halt. The hum of the household fades away. You are wakened now by bird-song. Hikes to the mountains are a thing of the past. Even a stroll down the road has its terrors. Your hair turns apple-blossom white, Adorning a fragile and impotent matchstick body. Yes, you're well on your way to eternal rest, While your friends make plans for your funeral.
Oh well, I guess we all need a little bit of humor don't we? I love the part about the impotent matchstick body! hahahahaha
Thank you for stopping by, I pray blessings for you and your family!
