Gifts Given to Us!

Romans 12:6-8 (New International Version)

6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

In my course “Caring for People Gods Way”, I am learning about the gifts we need in order to counsel. These are the seven gifts of spiritual motivations listed above; the first one is prophesying or preaching, a person who is articulate and bold in proclaiming the Word; the second is serving, non verbal, loving and honoring each other, third: is teaching clarifying and explaining the truth of the gospel; fourth, is encouraging or exhortation, giving people hope, and having  patience knowing that God has a plan for your life; fifth is giving, being generous in everything you do; sixth is ruling or leadership, being good organizers or managers; and seven is mercy, showing empathy with the ones that are hurting. When there is a balance of these gifts, it is amazing how God can work in peoples lives, whether in church as a body, or in a counseling session. Everyone complimenting each other and  everything working properly and in order. What gifts do you have? Can you see yourself in either of these listed? Maybe it is time to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal which gifts God has given to you. He has a plan for your life, and He will show you what it is if you will just ask Him. My prayers are with you this week as you begin your journey. God Bless You!
