Job's Wife!

Job 2:9,10 (The Message)

His wife said, "Still holding on to your precious integrity, are you? Curse God and be done with it!"

10 He told her, "You're talking like an empty-headed fool. We take the good days from God—why not also the bad days?"

Not once through all this did Job sin. He said nothing against God.

What is your opinion of Job's wife? Do you think she is one mean, hateful woman? Or could it be she had rather see her husband dead than to see him suffer as he was doing? My opinion of her has certainly changed as I remembered the way their family was before Satan was allowed to destroy all they had. How could they have had a family like this if she had been a horrible mother and wife? No, I believe she loved her family deeply! There was parties and spending time with each other which meant a lot of organizing and even with servants there are still things that had to be done. I also believe she prayed for her family, and especially when things began to happen, I believe she prayed more. Maybe it broke her heart to see her husband suffering so. If you read the account you will see just what this terrible disease was doing to his body and his mind. He experienced terrible sores that was itching and burning, he had lost his appetite, he was losing weight, the list goes on. When his friends came to see him, they didn't even recognize him. Oh yes, do not read over this part. Job was being tormented in a way we can't even imagine. Just maybe we should not be so hard on this woman Mrs. Job, as some call her. To many jokes have been made and not enough truth to show her as being a devoted wife and mother. She had to have been horrified at what he was going through. Maybe here on the last, she just wants him to die and not suffer anymore. I do believe at this point she was desperate! Who knows what we would do if we were in the same situation! I believe we need to rethink Mrs. Job and not judge her to quickly!!!!!
