I am not afraid! As a matter of fact, I am looking forward to heaven more and more each day. So this week as I celebrated my birthday, I didn't fret about being one year older! I like my senior coffee at McDonald's! I just have to share with you what the Message translation tells us about getting old:
(Ecclesiastes 12:3) In old age, your body no longer serves you so well. Muscles slacken, grip weakens, joints stiffen. The shades are pulled down on the world. You can't come and go at will. Things grind to a halt. The hum of the household fades away. You are wakened now by bird-song. Hikes to the mountains are a thing of the past. Even a stroll down the road has its terrors. Your hair turns apple-blossom white, Adorning a fragile and impotent matchstick body. Yes, you're well on your way to eternal rest, While your friends make plans for your funeral.
Oh well, I guess we all need a little bit of humor don't we? I love the part about the impotent matchstick body! hahahahaha
Thank you for stopping by, I pray blessings for you and your family!
I am linking with Spiritual Sunday, You will be encouraged when you visit!

Happy Birthday, Shirley. Although I want to be here as long as the Lord has planned for me, I do not fear death. I know that some day I will be with Him forever.
Blessings,
Joan
your post reminded me of an elderly lady we met enroute to Florida. She was travelling alone. Told us she was in her 90's, and no matter what illness she had been hit with she came back ready to living her best life.
Ah, age. I think what I do fear the dying process. Don't quite look forward to that. But I love the whole Mawmaw thing--the plus side of aging. And life after death. With Jesus forever.
Shirley you don't look any older to me today than you did yesterday. Haha, I am very happy to have a friend in you to grow old with.
Happy Birthday, Shirley. The thing that amazes me is how swiftly I got to be like the person described above. Except for the match-stick body. I'm working on that. LOL But you're right. the older I get the more I look forward to what lies ahead. I'm so thankful for that assurance.
Blessings,
Charlotte
