A Delightful Child!

Esther 4:12-17 (The Message)


12-14. When Hathach told Mordecai what Esther had said, Mordecai sent her this message: "Don't think that just because you live in the king's house you're the one Jew who will get out of this alive. If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive for the Jews from someplace else; but you and your family will be wiped out. Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this."

15-16. Esther sent back her answer to Mordecai: "Go and get all the Jews living in Susa together. Fast for me. Don't eat or drink for three days, either day or night. I and my maids will fast with you. If you will do this, I'll go to the king, even though it's forbidden. If I die, I die."

17. Mordecai left and carried out Esther's instructions.


Have you in your family or by acquaintance known "a delightful child"? All children are precious and truly gifts from God, but sometimes there may be this special child that exudes this joyful spirit. It is actually hard to describe the laughter and peace that surrounds her or him. I am not even sure if those are the correct words, but I can tell you it is a blessing to witness this child. Seems like they also possess the ability to excel in everything they do. I have noticed they pay attention to detail, you might not even think they are really understanding, but they are. Seems like it is so easy for them, why is that? I have not exactly figured out this phenomenon and maybe never will. We know they are special because God made all of us special and He has a plan for everyone so it is more than that. Maybe God has something special for them to do in their life that few could do. I am reminded of Hadassah or Queen Esther as she was called in the Bible. She was there for "such a time as this" as her uncle had told her. She was beautiful but more than that because she found favor with everyone. People loved her! We know she was brave and committed to God. Did she start off in life in a perfect situation? Not hardly, her parents had died and this is why her uncle was raising her. She was appointed by God for this time to save her people, it was her time but more importantly she was in Gods timing and perfect will. I am sure there will always be "Hadassahs" until Jesus comes and who knows but one might be in our family or someone we know. If you are aware of someone with this kind of spirit, please leave a comment. It will be several years before this child will be grown and I am anxious to see what will take place in her life. Our God is an awesome God and who knows what will happen in the future, but one thing I am assured of He is in control and I praise Him for His promises. We must pray for not only our children and grandchildren but for all children that they would be eager and accept Gods calling in their life. Esther 6:1-3 (The Message)


1-2 That night the king couldn't sleep. He ordered the record book, the day-by-day journal of events, to be brought and read to him. They came across the story there about the time that Mordecai had exposed the plot of Bigthana and Teresh—the two royal eunuchs who guarded the entrance and who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes.
3 The king asked, "What great honor was given to Mordecai for this?"

"Nothing," replied the king's servants who were in attendance. "Nothing has been done for him."

Well, I wonder why the king couldn't sleep! What was going on with a man that was King over a vast province, the very same one who on the advice of Haman had ordered an edict to be sent out that all the Jews would be destroyed? Well, if you will read this tremendous account of Queen Esther, you will discover she was on the throne "for such a time as this"! The answer to the sleepless night is of course Gods plan in the works making sure the Jews were not destroyed. This was the line our Savior Jesus Christ came from, so they had to be protected! Was King Xerxes a Jew or even a believer in God? No, he wasn't! He didn't have a clue what was going on, he didn't even know the Jews were the one he had ordered to be destroyed! The kings crown may have been over his eyes and ears, and he was certainly listening to that crafty Haman the amalakite. (When you read the story you will know these people were at war with God himself), To say he was out of touch and didn't have a clue is an understatement! But, (I love that word because it shows something is about to change) Gods plan was being orchestrated as it always is in our life to. We may not and usually don't see what is going on, but believe me friend, there are great and might things happening at this very second just for you. Things you have been praying about, don't you dare give up, when the time of God is right, you will see this very thing. In His time, it is all about "His timing". There are other people and events that play into our lives and you must trust God to see it through. Haman would not succeed, Jesus would be born from the tribe of Judah, and Esther and Mordecai would have an account in the greatest Book every known. King Xerxes, well you will just have to read about him. All of this just to say, God has a plan for your life! don't think for one minute you are alone and you are unimportant. You are treasured far above anything you can imagine. Have a blessed day!

Queen Esther!

Esther 2:16-18 (New Living Translation)

16. Esther was taken to King Xerxes at the royal palace in early winter of the seventh year of his reign. 17. And the king loved Esther more than any of the other young women. He was so delighted with her that he set the royal crown on her head and declared her queen instead of Vashti. 18. To celebrate the occasion, he gave a great banquet in Esther’s honor for all his nobles and officials, declaring a public holiday for the provinces and giving generous gifts to everyone.

I want to give you an update on my Bible Study on the book of Esther by Beth Moore. To say it is a marvelous study would be an understatement! There are 14 of us in the class, and we are all of the same opinion. I didn't really understand how a book in the Bible that didn't use the name of God, satan, or angels could show us how to live a Christian life. Hummm, well sisters, this very important book in Gods Word has His handwriting all over it. People are "maneuvered" around so that His will and plan would be carried out. From Queen Vasti refusing to come to his drunken party, to Esther being crowned Queen is quite a journey so far! I am very excited and thankful to be a part of this study. I must also state, these ladies at the Presbyterian Church are the sweetest and serious about learning more about our Lord! So as we continue (this was week 2), I will keep you informed.
