Two Thousand Years Ago!

 ^{1 Corinthians 15: 16-28 (The Message translation)}  
                                                                              If corpses can't be raised, then Christ wasn't, because he was indeed dead. And if Christ weren't raised, then all you're doing is wandering about in the dark, as lost as ever. It's even worse for those who died hoping in Christ and resurrection, because they're already in their graves. If all we get out of Christ is a little inspiration for a few short years, we're a pretty sorry lot. But the truth is that Christ has been raised up, the first in a long legacy of those who are going to leave the cemeteries.  There is a nice symmetry in this: Death initially came by a man, and resurrection from death came by a man. Everybody dies in Adam; everybody comes alive in Christ. But we have to wait our turn: Christ is first, then those with him at his Coming, the grand consummation when, after crushing the opposition, he hands over his kingdom to God the Father. He won't let up until the last enemy is down—and the very last enemy is death!

It is hard to know where to start when writing about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. My heart is so heavy when I read about the pain and agony He suffered and at the same time my heart is overwhelmed with praise and thanksgiving for what He did for all of us. How do you put in words and explain that it was the greatest event that ever happened in the history of heaven and this world? He took our place on that cross, beaten beyond recognition, then dying for our sins just so we could have a choice where we would spend eternity. When I read this scripture in the message translation, it really spoke to and made it plain to me. If Jesus had not been raised from the dead, then everything was for nothing. He would have been just like some other man, but He was the Son of God and because he was raised, we have hope and a future with Him. As you can tell I am overwhelmed, because no words seem appropriate! I am beyond thankful for what He has done for me and my family. Because you see, when we accept Him as our Savior, we have the promise of our family been saved also. I pray these few days will burn deep in your heart what Jesus Christ did for you. A Trip to the Past!

Psalm 91 (New Living Translation)


1. Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2. This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
3. For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
4. He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
5. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
6. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
7. Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.



Have you ever had anything to happen that jerks you back into the past? Something that uncovers a part of your life that you would just like to forget? I had this very thing in my face this week. First a little background; my sister and I had polio when we were children. And that began a life of fear (my first encounter), doctors, hospitals, iron lungs etc. So from 5 and 3 years old to now we have dealt with many health problems. This week my sister fell and broke her hip, because of the post polio her recovery is having many complications. If you are not familiar with polio, it was a virus that caused damage to the nerves. Some were paralyzed to never walk, some of us regained strength only to lose it again as the aging process takes place. Because the heart is a muscle, most post polio patients have heart trouble. Actually what happens is the nerves are dying and there is nothing the doctors can do about it. So the heart and the muscles gets weaker. Even writing this is hard for me, but it is a realization that won't go away. I have to deal with this but I can tell you without God, I could not. There is no hope for this condition, no cure and even the medication is limited as how it helps with pain. I am sorry if this is depressing to you, it is not meant to be nor for pity. This is life and we all are or will deal with something! We will be faced with events that will hurt our hearts and cause us to hopefully call out to God. Some won't and I know that, but I just can't wrap my mind around that aspect. We are here on this earth for just a short time like a vapor,yet we will spend eternity somewhere. My point with all this is we don't need to go through this alone, no matter what we are facing. I am speaking of myself here because my sister does not know Jesus as her Savior! Now that is the scariest of all! I would ask you to please pray for her. I will keep you updated on her condition.

The Truth about Jesus!

Luke 2:25-35 (The Message)

25-32. In Jerusalem at the time, there was a man, Simeon by name, a good man, a man who lived in the prayerful expectancy of help for Israel. And the Holy Spirit was on him. The Holy Spirit had shown him that he would see the Messiah of God before he died. Led by the Spirit, he entered the Temple. As the parents of the child Jesus brought him in to carry out the rituals of the Law, Simeon took him into his arms and blessed God:

God, you can now release your servant;
release me in peace as you promised.
With my own eyes I've seen your salvation;
it's now out in the open for everyone to see:
A God-revealing light to the non-Jewish nations,
and of glory for your people Israel.

33-35. Jesus' father and mother were speechless with surprise at these words. Simeon went on to bless them, and said to Mary his mother,

This child marks both the failure and
the recovery of many in Israel,
A figure misunderstood and contradicted—
the pain of a sword-thrust through you—
But the rejection will force honesty,
as God reveals who they really are.


This Child that would grow up to save the world, this Child, the Son of God! This event had been prophesied by Isaiah some 700 years before had been fulfilled. When it finally happened these people were like some are now when you talk about the second coming of Christ. They just don't think it will happen in their lifetime. The signs are here as they were then, people had been told the Messiah would come. Some were looking for Him and some were not. He was our Salvation then and He still is today. I pray you have received this greatest gift possible, and I also pray that you have given the greatest gift you could give which is yourself, just lay it all at His feet and accept Him as your Savior and Lord. Take it Seriously!

Matthew 18:18-20 (The Message)

18-20. "Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I'll be there."

It is time to stand up and get serious with our commitment to God! There is power in prayer and when there is more than one person praying and agreeing together, then you have action going on in Heaven! My faith is strengthened when I read Gods Word and realize those promises are for me. The enemy of our souls can only do what we allow him to do, so lets stand on Gods Word and claim our families and friends for salvation, healing, and deliverance. Lets pray for peace in their hearts and a determination to live for God. Have a Blessed Friday, I am praying for you!

1 Peter 2:24 (The Message)

21-25 This is the kind of life you've been invited into, the kind of life Christ lived. He suffered everything that came his way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by-step. He never did one thing wrong, Not once said anything amiss.They called him every name in the book and he said nothing back. He suffered in silence, content to let God set things right. He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you're named and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls.

What a marvelous passage of Scripture! Jesus did endure all for us! We do know (if we read Gods Word) what was done so that we could have life and have it more abundantly.Our sins were carried to the cross so we could be free, and our healing was also paid for, this was not an after thought. The stripes He took on His back was for our healing. We have to believe this is for us before we can be healed. How can you claim something if you don't believe it is yours? My prayer for you today is if you are battling sickness or disease that you would go to Gods Word and read for yourself, believe what was done for you, and then speak healing and wholeness to your body, claiming what is rightfully yours. Remember what a price was paid for our salvation and healing, then give praise and thanksgiving to the only One who made the greatest sacrifice ever made. God Bless you!
