Friends are a Gift from God!

Proverbs 17:17 (The Message)

One Who Knows Much Says Little
17. Friends love through all kinds of weather,
and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.

I am so thankful to be feeling better today! This week has not been very productive to say the least. I even missed my last Bible Study and I was the teacher! Not to fret, they made it fine without me. I was disappointed though, it was the climax of Esther! What an amazing account of God working behind the scenes. Our next study will be with Kay Arthur (The Covenant). I love to study Gods Word! Studying to show ourselves approved is the answer! And it makes a difference who we study with! I have met some wonderful ladies that love the Lord and are dedicated to His work. The Lord has always blessed me with good friends, I can honestly say all during my life there have been some constant and then some who were there for a time. We have moved a lot so there was opportunity in church and neighborhood to meet lots of nice folks. Friends are truly a gift from God! Now on the other hand, we have to be a good friend to. Just listening is probably one of the most important things we can do. Being honest and discreet is an absolute must also. If we have the ability to make another person feel good about themselves, then we have accomplished a great deal. I believe we must encourage each other, holding each other up in prayer, and really being concerned. You know enough that we feel what they are going through. We must have compassion and empathy. My friends have been praying for me this week and I am so thankful. Even though it was not serious, I was still down and out. We have a lot of things coming up in the next few weeks that will require lots of strength, and of course I am looking to my Heavenly Father for that. Guidance to know exactly what to do, and then wisdom to know how to handle it. Thank you again for your prayers, I pray and ask Gods blessings on you when you read my blogs. Thank you for that to. I truly love the Lord and only want to do His will. We have weather moving in that will surely keep us on our toes, maybe on our knees to so everyone be safe and have a blessed weekend.

Warfare!

Ephesians 6:13 (The Message)

13-18. Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You'll need them throughout your life. God's Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.

I have been involved in such a battle! For the past week, sleep has not been easy! I am not sure what all is going on, some of it is a cold I am dealing with, but much of it is spiritual warfare. Fear has been a mainstay in my life from the time of being a little girl. My sister and I had polio when we were children, and there is a lot I don't remember, so I have always attributed that fear was from that. Now I know what the Bible tells me about fear. 2 Timothy 1:7" For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind"
So what is the problem, why do I still have fear? Because the battle we fight is in our mind, the enemy will come at us continually. Now what I do with it is of course up to me! There is still more going on here though, family and friends that I have been "fighting" for. As the scripture states again we can't handle this on our own, it is to big, we must have God, we must read the Word and keep praying. I am not going to give up and when it is all over but the shouting, I will be standing on my feet! Please pray for me, I always pray for everyone that reads my blog. The main purpose is to encourage people, but it is also to share my heart. We all have problems and we must pray for each other. God Bless you, my sweet friends!

Philippians 1:2-4 (New International Version)

2. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

3. I thank my God every time I remember you. 4. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy

Being thankful that we can pray for each other! This is my pick for today in this countdown to Thanksgiving; praying for other people. Thanking God every time we remember someone and holding them up in prayer! Isn't this a wonderful gift? In order to have a relationship with someone (including God) we must talk to them and spend time with them. I have noticed that when I pray for someone or someone takes the time to pray for me we are connected in the Spirit. This connection makes us children of God and brothers and sisters with each other. So I can truly say, I do pray with joy in my heart knowing that God hears and answers prayers. He knows what is best for us, please don't be discouraged when the answer doesn't come right away, or God is leading you in a different direction. Believe me if it is not in His will, you don't want anything to do with it anyway. Be blessed and be thankful you can pray!

Romans 12:11-13 (New Living Translation)

11. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. 12. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

Do you know for a fact someone prays for you? How would you feel if no one was lifting you up in prayer? The fact is there are many people who really don't have any one to pray for them. Is that not the most heartbreaking fact? This is really hard for me, I am so blessed for the family and friends that prayed for me in my life time. I heard someone make a statement while going by an accident, "well, I sure hope no one is hurt." What about praying for them? Have we gotten so self centered we don't care what happens to people just as long as it doesn't happen to us? God help us! Lets be mindful of the needs of other folks, and keep on praying!

Life and Death Matter!

Daniel 2:22-24 (New International Version)

22 He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.
23 I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king."

Have you ever prayed for something that was a life and death matter? I mean you know if you don't hear from God that your life or someone else could be on the line! Well, this is where Daniel was at! He knew if God did not show him the answer to the dream the king had, he and his three friends would be killed. Already people had been killed because they couldn't interpret the dream. In the scriptures above he is thanking and praising Him, because the dream has been known to him. I am sure Daniel and his three friends were down on their knees doing some heavy praying, seeking God as though their lives depended on it (which it did), and here is something else to consider, God only showed Daniel! Do you think the other three would like to have been shown to? Now they would have to trust that Daniel had truly heard from God. As we pray and seek God this week for His wisdom and power, be sure to expect Him to answer and then be sure you praise and thank Him for the answer.
