Lessons for Living!

What a friend we have in Jesus

Psalm 119:33-40 (The Message)

33-40. God, teach me lessons for living
so I can stay the course.
Give me insight so I can do what you tell me—
my whole life one long, obedient response.
Guide me down the road of your commandments;
I love traveling this freeway!
Give me a bent for your words of wisdom,
and not for piling up loot.
Divert my eyes from toys and trinkets,
invigorate me on the pilgrim way.
Affirm your promises to me—
promises made to all who fear you.
Deflect the harsh words of my critics—
but what you say is always so good.
See how hungry I am for your counsel;
preserve my life through your righteous ways

These are the desires of my heart! I am always so thrilled with the Word of God!What a wonderful passage of scripture! God is so good to us and His Word proves it over and over again. We should read this and apply it to our hearts, then our focus will be directed in the right path. It describes exactly what we need and how we can get off the path if we are not careful in prayer. Blessings to you sweet friend, I am praying this will be a revelation to you as it is to me!

Psalm 39:4,5 (New International Version)

4. "Show me, O LORD, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life. 5. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man's life is but a breath. Selah.

Life is surely short and small in the eyes of God. It is as if we are young and then all of a sudden, we are old. A few months before my dad turned 83, he made this statement "you know, when I look in that mirror I ask, Who is that old man? I don't feel old in my heart." I think this may be the way we all will be. Time goes by so fast, and then life changes so fast to. This very thing has happened to someone very dear to our family this week. I guess there had been signs that something was wrong for quite awhile, but things progressed to the point of her safety. It is very sad and heartbreaking to see the past fade away and the changes that will affect everyone in the family. My prayer is first of all to be thankful for her life, then to pray that the family will be guided by wisdom. That the Lord would show them all the options available and lead them in the direction they should go. Please pray with me that the Holy Spirit will reveal to them the love and mercy of God.

Counseling and Understanding!

Job 12:12-13 (New Living Translation)

12 Wisdom belongs to the aged, and understanding to the old.
13 “But true wisdom and power are found in God; counsel and understanding are his.

What does it mean to counsel with someone? For several months now, I have been taking some courses in counseling. I remember as I began to pray about it, there would be and still is such a burden for hurting and hopeless people. People that just need some help, maybe sometimes just encouragement. There will always be questions we will not have an answer for in specific things, but there are some absolutes in Gods Word also. The next thing we need to remember is the Holy Spirit is the greatest Counselor, He will lead us in these areas to reassure someone that God loves them, and they can trust Him. Each person has to be shown who they are in Christ, and when this happens, a new heart begins to emerge. A heart full of confidence and love for God. Then trust begins to develop. Healing a persons heart is a process and the end result is a heart full of the promises of God, ready to take hold and claim them. A goal has been set and the vision is established. This may take months or years, but it is Gods desire to restore what the locusts have eaten. I just want to encourage you to have hope, don't ever give up on God. He is the author of wisdom and the giver of power! The greatest sacrifice ever given was for you and me, just thank Him, He is worthy to be praised!

James 3:17-18 (The Message)

17-18. Real wisdom, God's wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.

I wonder what it would be like if people treated each other with dignity and honor? Do you think there would be as much confusion and heartache if we just loved and accepted people as a creation of God? If we weren't so quick to judge, or even have an opinion, there would not be as much hurt and confusion! Until we learn who we are in Christ, we have a tendency to wear our feelings on our sleeve. Forever ready for someone to offend us so we can either justify the behavior we are used to or just let it beat us down where we feel we are worthless. In praying for wisdom God said He would unbraid it liberally, He will show us how to be gentle and caring for other people. They will see His love in us and know He is real! Everyone needs to be encouraged, everyone needs hope, and it is our job as Christians to make sure it is done. We are commanded to love God with all of our heart, soul and mind, and then to love our neighbor as our self. It is not a suggestion, it is a command. God will give us this love, and wisdom, and anything else we need in order to live a pleasing life for Him. As you begin your week, my prayer for you is that if you need encouragement, someone will be there for you, and also for you to encourage someone else to. Have a Blessed Week!
