Just Trust God!

Proverbs 3:5-12 (The Message Translation)

5-12 Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
   don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
   he's the one who will keep you on track.
Don't assume that you know it all.
   Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
   your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honor God with everything you own;
   give him the first and the best.
Your barns will burst,
   your wine vats will brim over.
But don't, dear friend, resent God's discipline;
   don't sulk under his loving correction.
It's the child he loves that God corrects;
   a father's delight is behind all this.

Well, it sounds like it should be easy, just trust God! How many times I have heard that said to me, and I am like, "well OK" but it isn't easy is it?  It takes commitment and dedication and probably the most of all to get ourselves out of the way with "I can figure this out and then I can fix it". As I was reading the scriptures this morning, this passage jumped out at me and I immediately went to the Message translation to use in my post. It spoke to my heart as I have been trying to figure out how us along with other folks are going to make it in this economy. Actually frantic sometimes, worry sometimes, until I remember Who I serve. When we see all these things happening that grips our hearts with fear, like the gas prices going up, people out of work, earthquakes in unusual places and recently the Tsunami that hit Japan this morning. It is truly overwhelming! Some are saying what in the world is going on, but the ones who know Christ as their personal Savior know these things will come because He told us that in His Word! You see, God always showed His people what was going to happen, He always had a plan and He has one now. Don't be frightened and discouraged. God is in control! I believe many will be saved because of all this shaking that is going on. Stay focused on God and know His Word. We have written instructions! I pray for peace in your heart so that you will be able to encourage others.
Have a Blessed Day!

A Fathers Delight!

Proverbs 3:5-12 (The Message translation)

5-12 Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he's the one who will keep you on track.
Don't assume that you know it all.
Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honor God with everything you own;
give him the first and the best.
Your barns will burst,
your wine vats will brim over.
BUT, don't, dear friend, resent God's discipline;
don't sulk under his loving correction.
It's the child he loves that God corrects;
a father's delight is behind all this.

I remember when I was a child and need of discipline! Oh my, it did not feel like this was the best thing for me. You see, I knew as I am sure all of us did when we were children  we knew what was right and wrong. And, when we crossed that line, we knew what would happen. This was how we were taught and that is how we learned. As I read this scripture, the last part of it really caught my attention. The motive for the correction of course is the reason. Why did our parents correct us? Was this their motives to make us better and stronger people? They knew what we would face in this world, they knew life would be hard. I think of a small tree just being planted and tied with cable from all sides to keep it growing straight. Not free to just grow which ever way, but trained to grow straight. And then one day that tree is grown, and it is tall and majestic and able to withstand the storms that come. Then I know why it was given such strict attention. We are like that, we need Godly guidance all of our lives not just when we are small. We need to be accountable to God for our actions and especially reactions. We need to trust God when we are being blown around and it seems like we have lost our way. We are never alone, He is with us. But He is allowing the winds and storms of life toughen us, so that we will grow and mature as we should. As you also read in this passage, don't miss this "BUT", that I have capitalized. Trusting God, listening to Him and you will be blessed, BUT, do not overlook the rest of it. Read on, don't resent God when he disciplines us.  Remember He loves us and His intentions are for our good. I hope this blesses you as much as it does me. It is wonderful to claim the promises of God, BUT, there are stipulations also. We must do our part and trust is a big part of it. Thank you for stopping by, I pray you are safe and warm. (The picture above is what we have been dealing with this week. 11 inches of snow and sub zero temps.)
Be blessed my friends!

The End of the Rope!

Psalm 143:7-10 (The Message)

7-10. Hurry with your answer, God!
I'm nearly at the end of my rope.
Don't turn away; don't ignore me!
That would be certain death.
If you wake me each morning with the sound of your loving voice,
I'll go to sleep each night trusting in you.
Point out the road I must travel;
I'm all ears, all eyes before you.
Save me from my enemies, God—
you're my only hope!
Teach me how to live to please you,
because you're my God.
Lead me by your blessed Spirit
into cleared and level pastureland.

Do you know anyone at the end of their rope? Needing an answer from God yesterday and yet nothing is happening? Oh my, I sure do. Whether it is the economy, job loss, sickness, you name it, it is everywhere! People are in panic mode! So what are we to do? nothing except go to God on our hands and knees and cry out for help. He is our only hope, we can't do it! Maybe that is why things have to get in such a state of despair sometimes because we think we can fix everything. Of course we can't fix it, it is bigger than we are. When we realize the truth of "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" and without Him we can't, then we are on our way to victory! Today lets just pray for the Holy Spirit to lead us and then lets go to sleep tonight trusting God.I am praying for you, please pray for me to! Be blessed this Lords Day!

Being Thankful!

Colossians 2: 6,7 (New Living Translation)

6. And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Do you wake up in the morning just being overwhelmed with thankfulness to our Lord and Savior? Are you just amazed at the goodness and keeping power of Him? Or maybe during the day, just wondering "how Lord, would I ever make it without you"? And, certainly when we read scriptures like the one above, we are reminded just how much Jesus did for us, and how it is up to us to continue on this road we have chosen. God in His mercy and love, did everything to make a way, giving the most priceless sacrifice ever made just for me and you. As you begin your day today, please remember He is our "life". The way was made, now lets walk in it! Gods Blessings on you,

Trusting God

I was praying about a situation that was really troubling me when the Holy Spirit whispered "do you trust me"? Well, I had to think just for a minute. I was certain that I loved God with all my heart, soul, and mind! Suddenly, like a flashback of my life I saw how He had always been there for me and protected me and my family. My answer was immediately "yes, I do trust you!" of course I trust you, why did I even hesitate.! This journey that I am on has taken me many places, and I have experienced many heartaches. Life is difficult to say the least, and as the scripture states above we must listen to Gods voice in everything and honor Him! The times when I did not listen were the hardest times of all. When we do listen and stand firm, we will be like the trees planted by the water, we will not wither because of the heat and we will continue to bear fruit. Our Father loves us with an unfailing love, He just wants us to trust Him, and if we will listen we will hear His voice. Blessings to you today!
